Project Highrise is a game where you’re the building manager for an ever-expanding city scraper. To your tower you must add offices and apartments, shops and infrastructure. If you turn a profit, you can grow taller and make your building’s systems more complex. This is partly a backward-looking game rooted in the history of the tycoon genre — the debt it owes to 1994’s SimTower is obvious. But Somasim’s design has some very modern features. Sitting around and waiting for stuff to happen isn’t in keeping with 21st-century game design, so there seems to be a lot of things to do in Highrise while you’re waiting for the rent to come in.
