Melanie Adele Martinez (born April 28, 1995), known professionally as Melanie Martinez, is an American singer, songwriter, artist, film director, music video director, actress, model and photographer.
Born in Astoria, Queens and raised in Baldwin, New York on Long Island, she first participated in the MSG Varsity Talent Show during her junior year of high school, and subsequently rose to prominence in 2012 after appearing on the American television vocal talent show The Voice. American singer-songwriter Melanie Martinez has released one studio album, three extended plays, six singles, and eleven music videos. Her music falls within the genre of pop.
On April 7, 2014, Martinez signed to Atlantic Records. On May 19, 2014, she released her debut EP, Dollhouse. On June 1, 2015, Martinez released the single 'Pity Party' from her debut album Cry Baby, which was released on August 14, 2015. The album was certified gold by the RIAA. On May 17, 2019 Martinez confirmed that the album it will be called 'K-12'. On May 29, 2019 via Instagram Melanie said that the album will be released on September 6, 2019.
